Totally Evelyn is a lifestyle, fashion, travel, fitness and film reviews vlogger. This project is an exciting example of how we help clients tap into the YouTube economy and demonstrate the power of our combined skills, experience and services in the digital marketing sector.

The backstory

Evelyn Jamieson has already established success with her airbnb an enormously successful property business. However Evelyn had always wanted to pursuit a career in TV and dreamed of becoming a TV presenter. It was time for Evelyn to explore other business opportunities and pursue her dreams of becoming a TV presenter.

CHALLENGES

Supersize Media CEO, Fin Wycherley, knew that for Evelyn to really expand her business and tap into the tv world she would need to approach this challenge digitally. And this is where the Supersizers came in.

Recognising, that there was a gap in the market for influencers directed at women over 40 and 50. We knew Evelyn’s personality and life experiences would be the perfect fit to become the woman of inspiration for women who want to fight the frump, embrace their age and want to fight to get their glam back.

In October 2017, after a lot of hard work, gorgeous party dresses and makeup (all in the name of research of course) Totally Evelyn was launched online. Through a solid content strategy, a brand new style, new photography, and stunning videos were combined with colourful sections packed with inspirational content on inspiring women over 40 to fight the frump and embrace age with confidence through lifestyle, fashion and beauty tips and more importantly FUN! Since then, Supersize Media has continually worked with Evelyn to build her online presence, user base, and social following, and refine and improve every element.

It is very early days but Evelyn has already found success with major local and national collaborations due to her brand focus. Her numbers will grow carefully and methodically. No fake followers for us!

Ad results

Her last short promo video was produced to drive people to watch her larger video on Facebook and Youtube. The budget was £7 for one day. The total reach of the promo was 1,847 targeted people at a cost of £0.01 per view.

If she had just posted the content on the various platforms without a budget, it would have been seen by precious few people. In other words, a lot of work, for very little return now that the algorithms have changed.  See below.

Measurement and Analysis

With digital marketing, every post, ad, collaboration, click-through and eyeball is instantly trackable and measurable online (See graph below).

This happens inside the tools and trackers on each platform. From the Facebook Ads Manager to the Insights tool, we can see precisely:

  • Which post has worked well, or not, and why
  • Which of our competitor’s posts have worked well, or not and why
  • The type of demographics seeing our content, engaging with it and sharing it
  • Comparisons to the previous week / month
  • Best times of day to post
  • Best demographics to target
  • Growth of fans and types of fans

Content strategy & brand development

Through a solid content strategy, an inviting brand look and feel and effective search strategy, we created the number one destination for women over 50 who seek support, discussions on life issues and more importantly fun!

The brand identity, tone of voice and associated assets needed to complement Evelyn’s personality and show off her professionalism and expertise. So we created brand guidelines and Brand tone of voice to help define and explain who Evelyn is, what she stood for and how to communicate her brand.

As the world’s 2nd largest search engine, YouTube is the natural platform for Evelyn to showcase her presenting skills, engage with her audience, and with Facebook live, Evelyn can interact with her followers and respond to real-time discussions just as if they were catching up on life events in a coffee shop.
