Let’s Test Your Website! – IoD Scotland

An engaging and interactive exploration of some participant websites with ‘teaching moments’ to demonstrate the basic functionality and requirements for a dynamic website fit for the 21st century.

About the event

The two-hour session is aimed at everybody who wants to learn how to improve the customer experience and conversion rate of their website.

Whether you are thinking about starting a business; a one-man band; head-up an SME or you work within an organisation, everything you learn is applicable.

This short training course establishes the core foundations and guiding principles for any successful website, along with explanations and examples of the most advanced ways to engage and convert visitors on your website.

During this dynamic workshop, participants will learn:

  • Why branding matters even more in the digital world
  • How to make your website convert better
  • How to recognise the characteristics of poor online experiences
  • Why page loading speeds matter
  • How utterly broken the website is if not optimised for mobile
  • How to collect emails from, and remarket to, website visitors
  • How to set up protection for GDPR, Cookies and Pixels
  • How to ensure your visitors are protected from viruses and avoid Search Engines “warnings”
  • How to place and optimise social media icons
  • How to audit your website for errors
  • How to track, measure and optimise for website traffic, ads and campaigns

Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will have developed a checklist of their business’ website requirements that they can take to their web developer to start or upgrade their website.

Fin Wycherley, of Supersize Media, delivers digital marketing, social media training and consultancy for organisations such as Hiscox, TSB, Sustrans, 10 Downing St, State Street Bank, Edinburgh College, Napier University, Funding Circle, Radio Scotland, etc. to mention just a few. Her passion is to turn ‘Davids’ into ‘Goliaths’ with intensely targeted, branded and engaging marketing campaigns that use all the latest cost-effective tools offered by the digital world. Her absolute bugbear is when her team cannot deliver an effective marketing strategy because the client’s website is just not fit for purpose!

  • “A fountain of digital marketing knowledge and has a wonderful attitude to business that truly inspires”
